However, I am annoyed by the subtle sexism in the video. There are exactly two women in the video. One is a scientist and only seen with a group of scientists and more or less blends in. The other one is a complete idiot. It wouldn't bother me to have the documentary writer be female (and stupid) if there was a little more emphasis on the female scientist, even if she just had a shot of her walking around like they do with some of the male scientists to bring attention to the fact that women can, and do, work on these projects.
The lack of diversity may be a result of their talent pool, after all the videos are made by, to quote their YouTube Channel, "Spitzer Science Center (SSC) located at the California Institute of Technology."
I think its pretty clear that the sexism is not intentional as they did another video called Big Bang where the woman is definitely intelligent and the guy is a bit of a goof, but he's not an idiot like the woman in Spitzer Space Telescope: The Musical. Check them both out on their channel or below.
